Pound Cake
Serves 4-6
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 50 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 pound flour ( 2 cups)
- 1 pound sugar ( 2 cups)
- 1 pound butter ( 2 cups)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp lemon lemon juice
- 4 eggs
- pinch of salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
Directions:
In a bowl start by creaming the butter and sugar. You can beat this mixture either by hand whisk or an electronic beater. Once fluffy start adding the eggs one at a time and continue whisking the mixture. Next add the flour, vanilla, lemon juice, salt and baking powder. Mix well. Add this mixture to a greased baking pan. Bake at 180 degrees C for about 50 minutes. Check by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake, if done the toothpick will come out dry. If it comes out sticky you will have to bake the cake for some more time. Bake until the top of the cake is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
